How do I get there?
The association and our moorings are based at Ickles Lock, Brinsworth St, Rotherham, S60 1AB. We are easily accessible from Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Worksop, Barnsley, Lincolnshire, and Leeds.
We’re pretty easy to find by road, rail, and river:
By boat
Heading upstream (towards Sheffield) on The Sheffield and South Yorkshire Navigation, once you are through Rotherham town centre (Town Lock) the next lock you come to is Ickles. We are immediately above the lock.
Heading downstream (towards Doncaster), once you have exited the flight, passed Jordan’s weir, and descended Jordan’s and Holmes Lock, you will find us before Ickles lock.
By train
Simply head for Rotherham Central Station. On exiting the station turn right and head along the towpath, following walking and cycling signs to Sheffield and Rotherham. You should pass the Forge Island regeneration scheme, police station, and football stadium before arriving at a bridge over Ickles Lock. You have arrived (there’s a gate with an Association logo in front of it).
By road
From Junction 33 on the M1 head towards Rotherham. Take the first exit at the next roundabout (Centenary Way) and follow this straight on over the next two roundabouts. At the next junction make a u-turn using the designated lane. After crossing the junction on the opposite carriageway, take your first left.
Continue under the dual carriageway, take your first left and follow the road alongside the scrapyard. At the end of the road there is a level crossing – as you cross this there is a gate immediately on your right.
When can I visit the Association?
Unfortunately, we are not open to the public. All visits, for example to take a look at a prospective mooring, are by appointment only. An appointment is easy to arrange by visiting our contact page.
